The Research Access Centre (RAC) serves as a single point that evaluates and authorizes private-sector researchers’ requests to access health data, while ensuring the privacy of Quebecers.
Before submitting a request for access to the CAR, you must visit the CAR website and complete a feasibility form so that a preliminary assessment of your request and the required documents can be carried out.

To obtain access authorization from the RAC, you must have obtained favorable assessment from the Central Research Ethics Board (CREB).
To facilitate the evaluation of your application, please make sure that your protocol outlines the activities related to the research project by indicating the following, among other information: purpose, information required to that end, and matching of such information being considered.

Once you have received an approval letter from the CREB for your project, you can submit your access request to the RAC.

Once your access request has been approved by RAC, you must sign an access agreement so that RAC can obtain and send you the authorized data and/or analysis results in response to your access request.
